Gild Review

Rating: 3/5 stars

Ummmmmmm. This book is not at all what I thought it was. I initially was interested because I’ve heard this series raved about so much on TikTok and then when I was shopping for it I read the first couple pages and was intrigued. I guess it’s a shame on me for not doing more research.

I’m not sure this book did anything for me except introduce me to the characters. I’m not sure I really enjoyed reading this book. Like I got through it in one day but I didn’t have any moments where I giggled or kicked my feet or anything.

Midas is an interesting character. I don’t like him but he’s not the worst person I’ve ever read. I was fully expecting him to hit her sometimes or to let her be raped but he never did which I guess is a good thing. But honestly her circumstances weren’t all that much better. I mean to constantly have love dangled in front of your face at the cost of any kind of interaction or freedom is one of the worst places I’ve ever seen a main character start at the beginning of a series.

I’m interested to see where this series goes and what Auren ends up being. I’m just hoping it doesn’t follow the usual trends of the FMC sacrificing everything to get back to a man who doesn’t really love her.
